Whenever I’m looking for new 3D Printers and concepts, I love browsing through Kickstarter and Indiegogo. While doing this today I found an old project, the EinScan-S 3D Scanner. Most 3D Scanners either don’t work well, or the outputted models require lots of cleanup for the model to become printable. Luckily, the successfully backed EinScan-S 3D Scanner claims to fix this.
The EinScan-S 3D Scanner claims to be fast, safe, and accurate. In the past, you would spend 15 minutes scanning an object, and then possibly hours afterwards fixing up the scanned model. With the EinScan-S you spend 3 minutes scanning, and because of the .1mm accuracy of the scanner, you don’t have to spend much time cleaning up the model.
The scanner also comes in two modes. It has a free range mode, and an automatic mode. The automatic mode spins the model on a turntable and scans it automatically, whereas the free range mode makes you move the scanner around.
In conclusion, the EinScan-S 3D Scanner looks pretty cool. Its fast and accurate, and it gives you flexibility in your scanning modes. Maybe this is the scanner that will finally reach the consumer market, and the scanner that will allow people to finally scan and recreate some Epic 3D Stuff.
